OUR STORY – THE DJ BOOKS STORY
I’m originally a poet turned dj(two spoken word cd’s running around here somewhere)…real talk. I always played around with turntables, basement junkie if u will, and i always thought “how can i promote myself as a poet?”  So, I said its time to get a little serious with the dj’n thing and i’ll make mixes for potential clients to promote myself as an poet/MC. Then i made a few mixes….gave them out to people and they just happened to like them. Then all of a sudden i started getting more calls for my mixes and less for the poetry. Not to say that i’m a bad poet…because i’m not!! It just turns out that i’m a better dj!  So low and behold….DJ Books was born.

WHY DO YOU CALL YOUR MIXES “THE THIEVES THEME”?
Well, I’m a music fiend…love music to death and i was a downloading freak. Lets go back to the original napster…
i used to download mad mad music..this was before itunes, rhapsody, amazon…all that. They had static music web sites where people posted up music but u had to find them. I USED to download so much music from napster that i almost…almost got sued AND i was banned from napster forever (well at least my computer was banned). So when i thought about a name for my mixes and a drop i though….”THE THIEVES THEME”!  I/we do ‘best of mixes‘ , mostly throwbacks, for the ones who we feel have been forgotten about or need just due or we just don’t want people to forget about the ones who came before and paved the way for others….

WHY DID U CHOOSE “DJ BOOKS” AS YOUR ATTRIBUTE  AS A DJ?
Simply…..I AM A STUDENT OF MUSIC…NEVER PROFESSING TO KNOW IT ALL…I STUDY AND LEARN IT THE BEST I CAN!!
